قصة الفيلم:

أنتوني (أنتوني هوبكنز)، رجل يبلغ من العمر 80 عاما، شيء غير مطيع والذين لم يقرر العيش بمفردهم، يرفض كل واحد من مقدمي الرعاية التي يحاولها ابنته آن (أوليفيا كولمان) استئجاره لمساعدته في المنزل وبعد إنها يائسة لأنها لم تعد بإمكانها زيارةها يوميا وأشعر أن عقل والدها يبدأ في الفشل وينتقص أكثر وأكثر من الواقع. تعاني آن الخسارة التدريجي لأبيه كره يدهوره، لكنه يتمسك أيضا بالحق في العيش في حياته.
